Initiative to include Bitcoin in the Swiss Constitution

We are starting a Federal Popular Initiative. This form is to gather interest from Swiss voters (and non-Swiss supporters) for this initiative.

We believe Bitcoin is becoming an important geopolitical tool and investment globally, and will continue to gain strategic importance in years to come.

Currently, the Swiss National Bank is mandated by the Constitution to hold some gold as a monetary reserve asset.

We propose to add Bitcoin to Article 99 clause 3 of the Swiss Federal Constitution.

The goal of this initiative is simply add the words "and Bitcoin (BTC)" at the end of this article. That's it.

1. The Confederation is responsible for money and currency; the Confederation has the exclusive right to issue coins and banknotes.

2. The Swiss National Bank, as an independent central bank, shall pursue a monetary policy that serves the overall interests of the country; it shall be administered with the cooperation and under the supervision of the Confederation.

3. The Swiss National Bank shall create sufficient currency reserves from its revenues; part of these reserves shall be held in gold (*).
